With degrees in Psychology and Commerce from the University of Virginia, Stephen developed an early interest in understanding the human heart, morality, and the ways people are shaped by their beliefs and experiences. During his time at UVA, he worked under Dr. Jonathan Haidt on research focused on human morality and social intuitionism. After graduation, he spent a season as a consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Over time, Stephen sensed a clear calling into vocational ministry and pursued his Masters of Divinity at Lancaster Bible College, Capital Seminary & Graduate School. He was ordained in 2018 and now serves as a biblical counselor with a compassionate, thoughtful, and holistic approach to care—one that seeks to foster lasting biblical transformation and healing.
In his counseling, Stephen helps clients understand their stories, struggles, and suffering through the lens of Scripture and the person of Jesus Christ. This same approach shapes his book, Hollow Ones of the Hallowed Son, which draws from film, poetry, art, games, music, and television to connect deeply relatable human experiences with biblical truth. Through these stories and cultural touchpoints, the book thoughtfully explores both the ache of feeling hollow and the hope found in Christ.
Outside of ministry and counseling, Stephen and his wife, Laura, enjoy running along the local W&OD Trail, sipping aromatic coffee, and savoring the simple pleasures of summertime. Stephen also enjoys speaking at churches and staying active, and helping lead the Faith & Fitness ministry at Ballston CrossFit.
